PETALING JAYA: A charred body of a three-year-old boy was found after he was believed to have been trapped in a fire involving three houses in Banting early Friday (Feb 6).
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call at 2.44am, and the first fire engine arrived at the scene about 12 minutes later.
“The fire involved three Class B houses, each measuring approximately 15 by 70 square feet, with about 90% of each unit destroyed."
“Firefighting operations and a search for the victim were carried out, and the fire was brought under control at 3.30am,” he said in a statement.
However, Ahmad Mukhlis said the victim was found in the main bedroom of the house, in a burnt condition, at 4.15am.
A total of 17 firefighters from the Teluk Panglima Garang, Banting and KLIA fire and rescue stations were involved in the operation, assisted by several fire engines.
The cause of the fire and the extent of the losses are still under investigation.
