ISKANDAR PUTERI: Police have arrested four motorcyclists for performing dangerous stunts on the Second Link Expressway here.
Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said an operation was conducted from 1am to 4am at KM9 northbound of the Second Link Expressway on Sunday (Feb 1).
“The four, aged 18 to 21, were detained during the operation, after they were found performing stunts that endangered themselves and other road users.
“Four motorcycles were seized, and eight summonses were also issued during the operation for various offences including lack of registration plates and invalid driving licences,” he said in a statement on Sunday.
He added that the case was being investigated under Section 42(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987 for reckless and dangerous driving.
If convicted, offenders could face up to five years’ imprisonment, fines ranging from RM5,000 to RM20,000 and a two-year driving licence suspension.
ACP Kumarasan advised parents and guardians to monitor their children's movements, especially when riding motorcycles.
“This is to prevent young people from getting involved in street racing activities, which carry a high risk of fatalities.
“Operations like this will continue to curb illegal racing and ensure public safety,” he added.
