Probe into couple’s murder almost complete

KUCHING: The probe into the murder of a married couple found dead in their home in Sri Aman is nearly complete, pending analysis of the victims’ mobile phones, says Sarawak police commissioner Comm Datuk Mohamad Zainal Abdullah.

He said the investigation found that the weapon used only had the DNA of both victims and no foreign DNA was detected.

“There was no sign of forced entry into the house and no valuables were reported missing.

“We can therefore infer that the incident only involved the husband and wife,” he said after the monthly gathering at the state police headquarters yesterday.

The couple, identified as Andy Roy Junran, 45, and Angelin Kibin, 44, were found dead in their bedroom on Jan 14.

Andy was a primary school headmaster while Angelin was a nurse.

Comm Mohamad Zainal said the husband had been experiencing depression recently, according to witness statements.

He said police were still waiting for a forensics report on the couple’s mobile phones to conclude the investigation.

“Once we have the report, we might find out more details which can help us determine the actual motive in the deaths of the couple,” he said.

Comm Mohamad Zainal added that police had recorded statements from 30 witnesses comprising family members, friends, colleagues and neighbours.
