Former Mara officer charged with CBT involving over RM15,000 in loan repayments


MUAR: A former Majlis Amanah Rakyat (Mara) assistant officer pleaded not guilty in the Sessions Court here to 25 counts of criminal breach of trust (CBT) involving RM15,839.66 belonging to four individuals over the payment of Mara loans.

Nor Hasmal Hazwani Mohd Kamal, 40, was charged on Monday (Jan 19) with committing the offence over the money, which was deposited into her account for the repayment of Mara loans under several financing schemes before misappropriating the funds for personal use.

The four individuals involved are Hamidah Mohd Zain, 55, involving RM5,393; Muhammad Zakaria Rahmat, 41, (RM3,346.66); Mohd Izar Md Zan, 45, (RM4,100); and Haslinda Hanapi, 46, (RM3,000).

Nor Hasmal Hazwani was charged with committing the offence at the Tangkak Mara office here between March 2021 and November 2024.

The charge, under Section 406 of the Penal Code, provides a prison sentence of not more than 10 years, whipping and a fine if convicted.

Judge Mohd Khairi Haron allowed her bail of RM22,000 with one surety for all charges and also ordered her to report to the nearest police station on the first Monday of every month. He set April 8 for mention. - Bernama
