Three experience breathing difficulties after ammonia gas leak in Negri

SEREMBAN: Three people have experienced breathing difficulties after a cylinder containing ammonia gas sprung a leak.

A Fire and Rescue Department spokesman said the incident happened near the Seremban toll plaza along the North South Expressway at around 2.40pm on Thursday (Jan 15).

He said the lorry driver, a female employee at the toll plaza and a security guard experienced shortness of breath.

"The lorry was transporting 15 cylinders when one started leaking.

"A contractor was then called to transfer the gas from the leaking cylinder into another," he said, adding that firemen covered the cylinder with absorbent towels to slow the leak.
