PETALING JAYA: Use the Pongal celebration as an opportunity to strengthen unity in diversity, says Datuk Seri Ramanan Ramakrishnan.

The Human Resources Minister, on his official Facebook page on Wednesday (Jan 14), said that the Pongal celebration symbolises gratitude, prosperity and appreciation for the fruits of one’s efforts and bestowed blessings.

"This celebration provides an opportunity to strengthen unity in diversity and to foster closer relationships among communities, regardless of race or religion.

"This is the true strength of our nation as a plural society that lives in peace and mutual respect.

"I will remain committed to ensuring the well-being of the people, the welfare of workers, and harmony within our multi-ethnic society continue to be top priorities, in line with the aspirations of Malaysia Madani, which emphasises the values of inclusivity, justice, and shared prosperity," he wrote.

He also added that he hoped the new year would bring good health, success and happiness to all.

"Let us move forward together with hope, spirit, and confidence towards a better future," he said.
