Former Sindumin rep Dr Yusof takes over as SDB chairman

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Dr Yusof Yacob has been appointed as the new Sabah Development Berhad (SDB) chairman, replacing Datuk Frankie Poon Ming Fung.

The former Sindumin assemblyman began his duties for the state government-linked company on Tuesday (Jan 13). He said his immediate task was to understand the role and strategic direction of SDB, including its subsidiaries to benefit the state.

SDB is a state government-linked company under the Chief Minister's Department and the Sabah Finance Ministry.

"The aim is to ensure the company and its subsidiaries, including major water producer Jetama Sdn Bhd, contribute to the state's development and economic growth," he said, adding that ensuring SDB's continued growth was a major responsibility.

Dr Yusof, who did not defend his Sindumin seat during the recent Sabah polls to make way for Pakatan Harapan's Datuk Datuk Yamani Hafiz Tun Musa, was previously the chairman of state-owned Qhazanah Sabah Berhad now headed by Tan Sri Anifah Aman.
