IPOH: Six people were injured in a road accident involving two cars along Jalan Besar Gunung Semanggol, Simpang Empat in Bagan Serai on Monday morning (Jan 5).
Perak Fire and Rescue Department acting deputy director of operations Shazlean Mohd Hanafiah said the department received an emergency call at 9.57am and dispatched a team from the Bagan Serai fire station to the scene, about 12km away.
He said fire engines arrived at 10.09am.
“The collision involved two cars. Three occupants in the bigger car were not trapped, but a man sustained serious injuries, while a woman and a female child in the same car were injured.
“Three other people in the other car were injured, with the woman driver trapped in the seat, and two male children injured.
“Firefighters carried out rescue operations using hydraulic equipment to extricate the trapped victim, who was later handed over to the health team,” he said.
He added that an Emergency Medical Rescue Services (EMRS) unit transported three victims to hospital.
The operation was brought under control at 10.13am and concluded at 10.53am.
“A total of seven fire personnel were involved in the rescue operation,” he said.
