Boy admits to causing hurt to police officer

KUALA LUMPUR: A 16-year-old boy has admitted to causing hurt to former Dang Wangi OCPD Asst Comm Sulizmie Affendy Sulaiman during an operation at Kampung Sungai Baru in September.

The minor, whose name is withheld, pleaded guilty to causing hurt to ACP Sulizmie with intention to instil fear and deter the officer from carrying out his lawful duties during the vacant possession operation. The offence was committed between 10.50am and 11.14am at Jalan Datuk Abdul Malik, on Sept 11.

Magistrate Nur Farahain Roslan fixed bail at RM500 in one surety and set Feb 4 for the teenager’s probation report.

At a separate Magistrate’s Court, the same teenager with another 17-year-old and five men were jointly charged with participating in an unlawful assembly at the same location on the same date and time.

They were charged with taking part in the illegal assembly by defying an eviction notice despite knowing that the gathering had been instructed to disperse.

The charge under Section 145 of the Penal Code carries a maximum two-year jail term or a fine or both, upon conviction.

All the accused pleaded guilty except Ariffin Abu Bakar, 56.

Magistrate Nurul Izzah Hasan Basri fixed bail at RM500 in one surety pending the probation report for both the minors.

Ariffin was allowed bail at RM2,800 in one surety. The cases are fixed for mention on Feb 4.
