Motorcyclist killed, pillion rider injured in KK crash


KOTA KINABALU: A motorcyclist was killed and his pillion rider injured after colliding with a car at a traffic light intersection in Kolombong, near here.

The motorcyclist is believed to have run a red light and crashed into the side of a car that was making a turn after the traffic signal on the driver’s side turned green.

Kota Kinabalu OCPD Asst Comm Kasim Muda said the 9.55am mishap resulted in the motorcyclist sustaining severe head injuries.

“He was pronounced dead at the scene at around 10am,” he said in a statement.

The pillion rider and the car driver, who was also injured in the collision, were taken to hospital.

ACP Kasim added that police were at the scene to collect ­evidence and information to facilitate investigations under the Road Transport Act 1987.
