KUALA LUMPUR: Malaysia's achievement at the Thailand SEA Games should motivate stronger preparations for other major sports events, ensuring the country stays competitive and respected both regionally and internationally, says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.
He also extended his congratulations and appreciation to all athletes, coaches and team officials for their discipline, sacrifices, and fighting spirit.

"This success is the result of high discipline, continuous sacrifices, and the unwavering fighting spirit of our athletes, coaches, and team officials in bringing honour to the nation on the regional stage,” he said in a Facebook post on Monday (Dec 22).
Anwar added that preparations for Malaysia as the host of the 2027 SEA Games will be carried out comprehensively, systematically and competently, not only in terms of infrastructure and organisation but also in building a sustainable sports ecosystem and producing world-class talent.
The Prime Minister also stressed that sports are a platform for uniting people across races, regions and backgrounds in a spirit of togetherness and national pride.

"This is the true strength of Malaysia that must continue to be nurtured and strengthened," he said.
The 2025 SEA Games, which concluded on Sunday (Dec 20), saw Malaysia finishing in fourth place with 57 gold, 57 silver, and 117 bronze medals, while host Thailand topped the medal table with 233 gold, 154 silver, and 112 bronze medals.
