Police detain second suspect after remains of missing woman found in Rembau

SEREMBAN: Police have arrested another man to assist in the investigation of a woman’s body found inside a bag buried behind an unoccupied house in Rembau on Thursday (Dec 18).

Negeri Sembilan Deputy Police Chief Senior Asst Comm Muhammad Idzam Jaafar said the man, in his early 50s, was detained around Genting Sempah, Pahang, on Friday (Dec 19) afternoon.

"With this arrest, a total of two men have now been held to assist in the investigation,” he said.

It was earlier reported that a man was arrested in Melaka in connection with the case. He was remanded for a week to facilitate investigations under Section 302 of the Penal Code for murder.

On Thursday, state CPO Datuk Alzafny Ahmad said the deceased was believed to be a 53-year-old woman reported missing in Ampang, Selangor, on Monday (Dec 15).

The woman, identified as Suri Narudin, was said to have been unreachable since Dec 8.

The report was later forwarded to the Pedas police station, prompting a search at a house on Jalan Pedas-Linggi.

During the inspection, police discovered a bag containing a woman's body buried at the back of the house. – Bernama
