Kluang cops nab four over spate of break-ins

KLUANG: Three men and a woman have been arrested on suspicion of involvement in a series of break-ins at homes and schools here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the suspects were detained in separate raids here on Wednesday (Dec 17).

"Those arrested, aged 19 to 23, were believed to have broken into a religious school’s office in Taman Kluang Barat late last month.

"The arrests have helped solve at least six cases involving house break-ins and school break-ins in the Kluang district," he said in a statement on Thursday (Dec 18).

He said police also seized a car, a car remote control, a black sweater, a black T-shirt and a pair of denim shorts.

He said two of the suspects have criminal and drug offences on their records, while the other two have no priors.

Urine tests on all four suspects came back negative for drugs, he added.

The case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code for housebreaking, which carries a penalty of up to 14 years’ jail or a fine, or both, upon conviction.
