KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Sabah (PBS) will review its performance in the recent 17th state election and deliberate on policies to safeguard Sabah’s rights at its 40th Annual Delegates Conference, says Datuk Joniston Bangkuai.
The PBS Information Chief stated that the conference, scheduled for Dec 17 and Dec 18 here, will also discuss motions to protect Sabah’s rights under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63) and strategies to address infrastructure, cost of living and economic opportunities.
Joniston said the event, to be officiated by Acting President Datuk Seri Dr Joachim Gunsalam at the Kadazandusun Cultural Association Hall in Penampang, will unite delegates from across the state.
In the Nov 29 election, PBS contested 15 seats and won seven: Kundasang, Matunggong, Kiulu, Tandek, Lumadan, Telupid and Limbahau.
“This conference marks four decades of the party’s struggle, resilience and commitment to Sabah, and it will serve as an important platform for PBS to reflect on its journey since its founding,” said Joniston.
He added that PBS will use the conference to assess political and socio-economic challenges and outline its future direction.
Joniston said the conference comes at a significant juncture, with PBS playing an active and constructive role within the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah government, contributing to political stability and development in the state.
“As PBS celebrates 40 years and enters its fifth decade, the party continues to defend Sabah’s interests, promote inclusive development and ensure the people’s voices are heard,” he said.
Meanwhile, Gunsalam will also officiate the joint opening of the PBS Youth and Wanita Delegates Conference on Dec 17, followed by the main Annual Delegates Conference on Dec 18, which will bring together party leaders, grassroots representatives and guests.
