Influencer’s extreme diet lands her in hospital

A FEMALE influencer in China neraly died after attempting to lose weight by eating only boiled chicken breast and broccoli for six months, reported Oriental Daily.

The 25-year-old documented her journey to achieve an ultra-thin figure online.

She had avoided food containing fat and carbohydrates and only ate chicken breast and broccoli, with the occasional small piece of potato.

Her followers praised her for her dedication, even dubbing her the “self-discipline goddess”.

She had experienced negative side effects from the diet, including a dull complexion, fatigue and weakness, but ignored all of them until she suffered intense abdominal cramps and was rushed to Xi’an People’s Hospital recently.

She was diagnosed with acute severe pancreatitis.

According to a doctor, her serum amylase level was 10 times higher than normal, which is life-threatening.

He added that her symptoms were likely caused by her extremely low-fat diet over a prolonged period.

The doctor said diets which are overly bland or excessively low in calories may look healthy, but could disrupt the normal secretion of digestive enzymes.

He urged those planning to lose weight to eat at a calorie deficit while still maintaining a balanced diet.
