PBRS fully backs formation of new Sabah govt under Hajiji

KOTA KINABALU: Parti Bersatu Rakyat Sabah (PBRS) is fully backing the formation of a new state government under Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor, said Datuk Seri Arthur Joseph Kurup.

The PBRS president said this was to ensure political stability, as well as continuity in development and policies for prosperity.

“PBRS also supports Hajiji for continuing to lead Sabah as the Chief Minister.

“His leadership has shown consistent commitment to ensure stability, developing the state economy, and the struggle for Sabah rights as enshrined under the Malaysia Agreement 1963 (MA63).

“As a Barisan Nasional component party, PBRS also expresses support towards Barisan’s participation in the state government.

“Constructive cooperation between parties that formed the government is an important foundation in moving development agendas, strengthening administration and ensuring that the people’s voices are prioritised,” said Arthur in a statement on Monday (Dec 1).

Arthur said PBRS believes that political stability is an important precondition to attract more investments, job opportunities and balanced development across Sabah, especially in interior areas.

“In line with that, PBRS will continue playing an active role in ensuring that the government that would be formed remains strong, stable and functioning, for the interest of Sabahans,” said Arthur.

It is understood that uneasiness is brewing among Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) members over the inclusion of Barisan in the state government, with Gagasan Rakyat Youth and GRS Wanita wings expressing dissatisfaction on Dec 1.

Sabah Barisan chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin has remained silent since the conclusion of the state polls on Nov 29.
