
The Gabungan Rakyat Sabah chairman said voters should seize the opportunity to exercise their democratic rights.
"While the weather is relatively fine now, there are forecasts of heavy showers later in the evening so please come to vote as soon as possible," he told reporters after casting his vote at SK Serusup here on Saturday (Nov 29).
He was accompanied by his wife Datin Seri Juliah Salag and their children.
Hajiji, who is contesting the Sulaman seat, added that preserving Sabah’s unity is a priority, noting the large number of candidates contesting in the current state polls.
He also expressed confidence in retaining the Sulaman seat.
"I will be at the Chief Minister’s official residence tonight. Whatever the outcome, we respect the rakyat’s choices," he said.
As at 11am, voter turnout for the Sabah polls reached 31.3%.
According to the Election Commission, this is lower than the voter turnout during the same period in the 15th general election.
Sabah heads to the polls today (Nov 29), with results expected to be announced later this evening.
