Two houses in Felcra Seri Bandi damaged by landslide

CHUKAI: Two houses in Felcra Seri Bandi near here were damaged in a landslide following heavy rain in the area on Friday (Nov 28).

One of the house owners, Hajariah Said, 52, said the 9.30am incident damaged her kitchen after it was struck by sliding soil and a fallen tree.

She said she narrowly escaped being trapped when the kitchen wall and the roof collapsed and almost fell on her.

"At the time of the incident, I was in the kitchen and was shocked when I heard a thundering noise when the landslide occurred," she said when met at the scene on Friday.

Hajariah said at the same time, her daughter, Noriza Abdul Rahman, 23, who was in the living room, screamed and asked her to get out immediately.

"My daughter and I rushed out of the house to save ourselves, fearing a more serious collapse," she said, adding that her house is only about 10m from a hill.

She added that two years ago, her kitchen was also damaged when a durian tree fell on it during a landslide. – Bernama
