Suspect in Bangsar journalist attack arrested


KUALA LUMPUR: A suspect linked to the attack on a journalist has been arrested.

“The 37-year-old man was arrested at about 2am over the attack in Bangsar,” said Brickfields OCPD Asst Comm Hoo Chang Hook when contacted.

He added that the suspect was arrested in Cheras and has been remanded for three days.

“Investigations showed that the suspect is unemployed and the motive behind the attack was more towards a personal matter. The case is still being investigated and all are urged to not speculate on the matter," he said.

In a social media post yesterday, reporter Haresh Deol said he was attacked by two individuals.

“I have just been attacked by two individuals, with another recording the assault,” he said.

“I have lodged a police report,” he added.
