Jobless woman in hot water over bogus rape claim


ISKANDAR PUTERI: An unemployed woman is facing legal action for allegedly lodging a false police report on Monday (Nov 24).

Iskandar Puteri OCPD Asst Comm M. Kumarasan said the 25-year-old Malaysian claimed that an e-hailing driver raped her.

"The woman also claimed in her report that she was forced to perform unnatural sex acts," he said here on Tuesday (Nov 25).

ACP Kumarasan said the woman claimed that the incident took place at Jalan Pulai Perdana in Kangkar Pulai near here.

"Actually, she was scolded by her family for coming home late and cooked up a story that she was raped," he said.

ACP Kumarasan said the case is being investigated under Section 182 of the Penal Code for giving false information to public servants, in this case, the police.

If found guilty, she faces up to six months' jail, a RM2,000 fine, or both.
