Worker dies as fire engulfs factory in Kulai


KULAI: A factory worker has died in a fire at a waste recycling factory on Jalan Seelong, Senai here.

Bandar Baru Kulai Fire and Rescue Station operations commander Muhammad Asri Yousri said the department received a call about the fire at 3.40am on Thursday (Nov 13).

He said nine firefighters from Bandar Baru Kulai and Kulai stations were immediately dispatched to the scene.

"Fire had engulfed a semi-permanent factory measuring about 18m by 25m, with about 20% of the building affected.

"During the operation, the burnt remains of a 35-year-old male victim identified as N. Elango, was found inside the factory," he said in a statement on Thursday.

Muhammad Asri said the fire was brought under control at 5.09am and the operation ended at 7.20am.

The case had been handed over to police for further action. – Bernama
