Opposition MP Mas Ermieyati claims she, Muhiddyin barred from attending theatre show

KUALA LUMPUR: An Opposition MP is claiming that she and a former prime minister were barred from attending a local theatre performance at Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka recently.

Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah) expressed disappointment that she was prevented from watching the performance despite being invited to the show.

"YB Pagoh (Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin) had bought 100 tickets for the show, while I was invited to attend to watch it.

"However, both of us were prevented from entering," she said while debating the Supply Bill 2026 at the committee stage for the Education Ministry on Wednesday (Nov 12).

"Are we not entitled to watch the works created by local talents, especially when Pagoh personally knows some of them who are involved in the performance that night?" she asked.

It is understood that the theatre performance was about the journey of the artistic career and legacy of the late Dr Rosminah Mohd Tahir, a towering figure who dedicated more than half a century to the performing arts, particularly in theatre direction.

The play, titled Cik Ros, was staged at the Auditorium of Dewan Bahasa dan Pustaka (DBP), serving as a tribute to a revered icon in Malaysia’s arts scene.
