11-year-old boy dies after water safety programme incident


KUALA LUMPUR: An 11-year-old schoolboy died on Friday (Nov 7) following two days of treatment after an incident during a water confidence support programme at the Desa Tasik Sports Complex Swimming Pool, Sungai Besi, here on Wednesday (Nov 5).

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Fadil Marsus stated that the police received a report on the incident involving the student from the Integrated Special Education Programme (PPKI) on the same day it occurred.

The pupil was from a national school in Kuala Lumpur.

"The victim was sent for treatment at Hospital Canselor Tuanku Muhriz (HCTM) Universiti Kebangsaan Malaysia but was confirmed dead at 2.30 pm yesterday.

"The student was buried at the As-Syuhada Muslim Cemetery in Sungai Udang, Melaka, and further investigations into the incident are ongoing," he said in a statement Saturday (Nov 8). – Bernama
