SHAH ALAM: Leaders and members of the United Indigenous Party of Malaysia (Bersatu) are reminded not to be involved in any form of organising, meeting or discussion with any party that has been punished by the party's Disciplinary Board.
The matter was based on internal instructions issued by the Secretary-General, as seen by Sinar Harian in Circular Number 3 of 2025, signed by Datuk Seri Mohamed Azmin Ali on Saturday (Oct 25).
According to the letter, each member is responsible for supporting the party's goals and objectives and for implementing party policies in accordance with Clause 9.1 of the Bersatu Constitution. Clause 9.1.4 also emphasises compliance with the Party Constitution and the Members' Code of Ethics and Conduct Regulations.
"Those who have been sentenced should use the provisions in accordance with Clause 22.6 of the Party Constitution to submit an appeal to the Appeals Board, and not act outside the boundaries of the Party Constitution.
"Clause 22.1(d) obliges Bersatu members to comply with and respect the party's decisions, including the decisions of the Disciplinary Board and the Appeals Board," the circular read.
The circular added that it is an offence for any party member to conspire with outside parties, including those who have been sentenced, to incite party members or make statements that tarnish the party's reputation and dignity, as such acts are contrary to Clause 22.1(f).
"The actions of any party member who conspires and supports a few individuals who have been sentenced by the Disciplinary Board are a clear violation of the Constitution and the Code of Conduct for Party Members.
"The State Leadership Body is responsible for monitoring and reminding party members at all levels to comply with the Party Constitution and the Party Members' Code of Ethics and Code of Conduct."
"Any offense, misconduct or violation of the provisions of the Party Constitution by any member will be subject to strict action as stated in Clause 22.5 of the Bersatu Constitution," it said.
Last week, the Bersatu Disciplinary Board expelled Tasek Gelugor MP Datuk Wan Saiful Wan Jan and suspended Machang MP Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal for one term, over the statutory declarations issue linked to efforts to demand the resignation of the party president.
The expulsion of membership was also imposed on four other party division leaders. Those found guilty of violating party discipline and sentenced, however, have the right to appeal to the Appeals Board for consideration within 14 days.
