Infant dies after family car hits cows in Bera


KUANTAN: An 11-month-old girl died after the car driven by her father collided with a herd of cows at KM49 on Jalan Kerayong-Simpang Kepayang in Bera on Thursday (Oct 23).

Bera OCPD Supt Zulkiflee Nazir said Nur Adriana Amira Mohamad Norismail suffered multiple injuries, including to the head, and was pronounced dead while receiving treatment at Klinik Bandar Bera 32.

He added that preliminary investigations found that the accident occurred at 9.40pm when the family was travelling from Kepayang to Kerayong.

"A herd of cows suddenly crossed the road. (The car)... hit the animals before skidding onto the road shoulder," he said in a statement on Friday (Oct 24).

He added that the girl’s 21-year-mother, who was in the front passenger seat holding the infant, suffered a head injury, while the 22-year-old driver escaped unhurt.

Supt Zulkiflee said the victim’s body was taken to Hospital Bera for a post-mortem today and the case is being investigated under Section 41 (1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – Bernama
