Zara Qairina inquest: Bloodstains found on several exhibits, chemist testifies


KOTA KINABALU: Bloodstains found on several exhibits tendered to the Chemistry Department were found to be mainly Zara Qairina Mahathir’s, the Coroner’s Court here was told on Tuesday (Oct 7).

Chemist Nor Airdora Saedon, 52, told this to the court when reading out her witness statement as the inquest into Zara Qairina’s death continues.

She said among the items with bloodstains were papers and a glass bottle.

These exhibits with suspected blood stains included those marked WK15(3)(a), WK15(8)(a), WK15(9)(a), and WK33 to WK35.

These exhibits were taken for DNA swab tests.

It was found that WK15(3)(a) had the DNA of Zara and another individual while the rest belonged to Zara.

Airdora received a total of 37 exhibits from investigating officer, Insp Wong Yew Zhung on Aug 11.

She is now presenting and marking exhibits to Coroner Amir Shah Amir Hassan.
