Anwar summoned to Istana Negara, no PM's Question Time today, says Speaker

KUALA LUMPUR: Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim was summoned for a meeting with the Conference of Rulers at Istana Negara early Tuesday (Oct 7), says Tan Sri Datuk Johari Abdul (pic).

The Dewan Rakyat Speaker informed the August House that Anwar would not be able to be present to answer the two questions listed for Prime Minister's Question Time.

“The session will be deferred to a later date. I hope the matter will not arise anymore,” he told the Dewan Rakyat at the start of proceedings at 10am on Tuesday (Oct 7).

The Lower House proceedings will resume with the question-and-answer session after it was voted with approval from the MPs.

The first question was posed by Datuk Mohd Shahar Abdullah (Barisan Nasional- Paya Besar), who wanted the Prime Minister to state the government’s position on the Peace Plan proposed by US President Donald J. Trump regarding the Palestine-Israel conflict.

He also wanted Anwar to explain to what extent the plan aligned with Malaysia's principles and efforts in championing the rights of the Palestinian people and their national sovereignty.

Meanwhile, the second question was from Datuk Mas Ermieyati Samsudin (PN-Masjid Tanah) who wanted the Prime Minister to state the level of the government’s preparedness to ensure the success of Visit Malaysia Year 2026, particularly in terms of international promotion and the involvement of state governments.

She also sought clarification whether expenditure was made based on the principle of value for money, as well as whether a grand launch will be held on Dec 31, as previously practised.
