Sabah PAS wants special prayers for flotilla crews detained in Gaza mission

KOTA KINABALU: Muslims in Sabah should call for special prayers on Thursday (Oct 2) in solidarity for the Malaysians and humanitarian crews who were detained on their way to Gaza.

Sabah PAS ulama council chief Azman Jupri said this is in support of the Global Sumud Flotilla Humanitarian mission en route to Gaza.

“We call upon all suraus and mosques to hold special prayers after the Zohor prayers at around 12.30pm and after Asar prayers at around 3.30pm later today,” he said in a statement the same day.

He said the detention of eight confirmed Malaysians, including two Sabahans, requires prayers from all Muslims regardless of their ideological differences.

“We also stand by Chief Minister Datuk Seri Hajiji Noor’s call for us to stand united on humanitarian grounds,” said Azman.

“Let us pray that all detainees will be released safely and continue their mission work in this conflict,” he added.
