Thunderstorm warning issued for six states as well as KL and Putrajaya


KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected across six states as well as Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya, with warnings in effect until noon on Wednesday (Oct 1).

In a post on social media on Wednesday (Oct 1), the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said the affected states were Perak, Pahang, Selangor, Negeri Sembilan, Melaka and Johor.

In Perak, the districts of Manjung, Bagan Datuk and Hilir Perak are on alert for severe weather.

In Pahang, areas such as Bentong and Temerloh are expected to be affected.

In Selangor, severe weather conditions are anticipated, along with Kuala Lumpur and Putrajaya.

In Negeri Sembilan, districts including Seremban and Port Dickson are under the warning.

Melaka is also expected to experience adverse conditions.

In Johor, areas such as Tangkak, Muar, Batu Pahat and Pontian are forecasted to be affected.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
