Supplier fined RM7,000 for packaging vapes to resemble toys


JOHOR BARU: A vape supplier has been fined RM7,000 by a Magistrate’s Court here for packaging the products to resemble toys.

The company, Romantic One Empire, was represented by its owner, Pun Jia Lin, 25.

She pleaded guilty to the charge read before Magistrate Nur Fatin Mohamad Farid on Wednesday (Oct 1).

Based on the charge sheet, the accused was charged with distributing vape products that resembled toys, which went against packaging standards.

The offence allegedly took place at a vape shop in Jalan Sri Pelangi 3, Taman Pelangi, here at around 10.20pm on March 6.

The offence was framed under Section 15 of the Control of Smoking Products for Public Health Act 2024, which carries a fine of up to RM20,000 or a maximum jail term of one year, or both upon conviction.

The court also ordered a warrant against the company if it fails to pay the fine, which allows for the seizure of its assets of the same value.

The case was prosecuted by Johor Health Department prosecuting officer Alina Anak Tangga while the accused was unrepresented.
