Former chief of defence forces Tun Mohamed Hashim passes away


PETALING JAYA: Former chief of defence force Jen (R) Tun Mohamed Hashim Mohd Ali passed away on Wednesday (Oct 1).

The ninth chief of defence forces passed away at around 11.52am Wednesday after being rushed to the Gleneagles Hospital in Kuala Lumpur on Tuesday (Sept 29).

He was 88 years old.

Mohamed Hashim was among the key figures in modernising the Malaysian Armed Forces and was also the younger brother of Tun Dr Siti Hasmah Mohamad Ali, wife of former prime minister Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad.

Mohamed Hashim leaves behind three children and five grandchildren.

He will be buried at the Raudatul Sakinah burial ground in Sungai Besi
