RM1.4mil in frozen meat seized at Johor port

PETALING JAYA: Undeclared frozen meat worth nearly RM1.4mil was seized by authorities at the Pasir Gudang Port in Johor.

Two of the containers held a total of 52,992kg of chicken and were confiscated on Sept 18 and 24.

Meanwhile, a third shipment containing 27,816kg of pork was seized on Sept 17.

“The total value of the seized meat is RM1,349,351.

“The meat was brought in without import permits and health certificates,” the Malaysian Border Control and Protection Agency (AKPS) said in a statement yesterday.

The agency stressed that importing any items without the required permits was considered an offence under the Malaysian Quarantine and Inspection Services Act 2011.

“The AKPS will continuously conduct enforcement operations at all entry points.

“This is to ensure the safety of agricultural products leaving the country, and to comply with the conditions and regulations set by the government,” it added.
