KUALA LUMPUR: Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and strong winds are expected across several regions in Malaysia, with warnings in effect until 11am on Sunday (Sept 28), says the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).

Six states as well as Kuala Lumpur were included in MetMalaysia's post on social media.

In Perlis, the entire state is on alert for severe weather.

Kedah and Pulau Pinang are also expected to experience adverse conditions.

In Perak, the entire state is under the warning.

In Pahang, areas such as Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, and Bentong are forecasted to be affected.

In Selangor, regions including Sabak Bernam, Kuala Selangor, Hulu Selangor, Klang, Gombak, Petaling, and Kuala Langat are on alert, as well as Kuala Lumpur.

In Johor, Pontian is expected to face severe weather.

MetMalaysia issues these warnings when thunderstorms with rainfall intensity exceeding 20mm per hour are imminent or expected to last more than an hour.

These are short-term warnings, valid for no more than six hours from issuance.
