Ahmad Zahid hails BUDI95 targeted subsidy as principled action for the people

KUALA LUMPUR: Deputy Prime Minister Datuk Seri Dr Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has welcomed Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim's announcement on the targeted subsidy for RON95 petrol through the Budi Madani RON95 (BUDI95) initiative.

He described the decision as a principled action that demonstrates deep concern for the people's welfare.

"As part of the nation's leadership, I see this decision as a principled move, full of concern for the people's well-being.

"God willing, we will continue to support the government's efforts for a more just, sustainable and inclusive Malaysia," he said in his Facebook post on Monday (Sept 22).

Under the BUDI95 initiative, the price of RON95 petrol for Malaysian citizens will be reduced from RM2.05 per litre to RM1.99 per litre, effective Sept 30.

Furthermore, the subsidised price is only applicable to Malaysian citizens. Non-citizens and large corporate entities will pay the unsubsidised market price of approximately RM2.60 per litre. - Bernama
