KUALA LUMPUR: Be advocates for positive change, voices for the voiceless, and inspiring leaders who contribute back to society, Datuk Seri Dr Wee Ka Siong has advised graduates of Tunku Abdul Rahman University of Management and Technology (TAR UMT).
The TARC Education Foundation board of trustees chairman said that education is a lifelong journey and that failure should be embraced as a teacher.
“Your degree is not the end of your learning journey - it is merely the beginning. The most successful people are those who view every experience as an opportunity to grow.
“You will face setbacks. Doors will close and projects will not go as planned. But, do not let these moments define you.
“Every failure is an invaluable lesson, a chance to pivot, innovate and come back stronger,” Dr Wee said in his address at the university’s convocation ceremony here on Saturday (Sept 20).
Graduates, he said, should always remember their roots and values as a TARCian.
“Remember the community that supported you, your parents who made sacrifices for your education and the faculty who believed in your potential.
“As you go out and make your mark on the world, carry this spirit with you,” added Dr Wee who is also MCA president.
The graduates, he said, are also the newest ambassadors of TAR UMT.
“You carry a legacy of academic excellence, a spirit of perseverance and a strong sense of community.
“The education received here is beyond just a certificate - it is a mindset moulded by the university’s Beyond Education philosophy.
“It is the ability to think critically, solve complex problems and adapt in a world that is constantly in flux,” he said.
For the September convocation ceremony, there are 62 postgraduate students, 1,517 bachelor degree graduates and 2,483 diploma graduates.
A total of 8,186 students have graduated from TAR UMT across all campuses nationwide this year.
