Anwar confirms invitation to emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha

KUCHING: Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim has confirmed receiving an invitation from the Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani, to attend the Emergency Arab-Islamic Summit in Doha on Sept 15.

The Prime Minister said the summit will, among others, discuss the latest developments in Gaza and the brutal Zionist attacks on the territory, which he described as excessive.

However, Anwar stressed that he will still be in the country for the national-level Malaysia Day celebration in Penang on Sept 16.

Speaking to reporters after attending a meeting with the Sarawak Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) Leadership Council (MPN) here on Thursday (Sept 11), he said Malaysia’s position on Gaza is founded on universal humanitarian values.- Bernama
