Drunk driver crashes car into house in Kluang


KLUANG: A man believed to be driving under the influence of alcohol was arrested after his car skidded and crashed into a house gate and garage here.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said the incident occurred at KM74 on Jalan Johor Baru–Ayer Hitam at about 11.30pm on Friday (Sept 5).

He said the 21-year-old driver was travelling from Johor Baru towards Ayer Hitam.

“The car he was driving skidded and collided with a house gate before crashing into the garage of a house at Jalan Bunga Raya, Kampung Melayu in Simpang Renggam.

“The driver and the occupants of the house escaped unhurt,” he said in a statement on Saturday (Sept 6).

ACP Bahrain said that traffic investigation officers who arrived at the scene arrested the driver.

“The driver tested negative for drugs, but his blood sample was taken and sent to the Chemistry Department to detect alcohol content in his system.

“He has been remanded for two days,” he said.

ACP Bahrin said the case was being investigated.

“I urge all road users to always be cautious, considerate, and responsible when driving to avoid unwanted incidents,” he said.
