Cyclist killed in collision with car in Langkawi


ALOR SETAR: A cyclist has been killed in a collision with a car on Jalan Kuala Muda in Pulau Langkawi near here.

Langkawi OCPD Asst Comm Shariman Ashari said in the 8.30am incident on Saturday (Sept 6), Low Beng Seng, 28, from Langkawi, died at the scene from severe head injuries.

"The Langkawi police headquarters received information about the accident at around 8.45am.

"Preliminary investigations revealed that the victim had been cycling with a group.

"The victim tried to avoid another cyclist and veered into the opposite lane.

He then collided with an oncoming car driven by a 36-year-old woman," he said in a statement on Saturday.

He said the victim's body was sent to the Sultanah Maliha Hospital in Langkawi for a post-mortem examination, adding that the case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987. – Bernama
