Technician electrocuted while doing repairs at Muar school

MUAR: A 53-year-old technician was electrocuted while carrying out repair works at a school hall.

Muar OCPD Asst Comm Raiz Mukhliz Azman Aziz said the victim was believed to have fallen from the first floor after being electrocuted while helping with repair works at a school hall in Jalan Sayang at 9.53am on Monday (Sept 1).

“The victim was pronounced dead by a medical officer from Sultanah Fatimah Specialist Hospital.

“Initial investigations found no criminal elements and the case has been classified as a Sudden Death Report,” he said in a statement on Tuesday (Sept 2).

He added that a post-mortem carried out by the hospital’s forensic department confirmed the cause of death as electrocution.

“I advise the public to always be cautious, especially when carrying out work involving electricity and to seek assistance from certified experts,” he said.
