Malaysian embassy monitoring Jakarta demonstrations, citizens told to avoid affected sites


JAKARTA: The Malaysian Embassy in Jakarta is closely monitoring the latest developments following a series of demonstrations that began on Monday (Aug 25) in the Senayan, Central Jakarta area.

In a statement, the embassy said the demonstrations have affected traffic flow following the closure of several locations, particularly in South and Central Jakarta.

The embassy urges Malaysians residing in Jakarta and those visiting for pleasure, business and other purposes to constantly monitor the latest updates regarding protest sites from local authorities and media.

"Malaysians are also advised to avoid demonstration areas and not to engage in any actions that could violate local regulations," the statement from the embassy read.
