RMAF pilot, co-pilot survive F/A-18D Hornet crash at Kuantan Airport (Updated)

PETALING JAYA: The Royal Malaysian Air Force has confirmed that an incident involving one of its F/A-18D Hornet fighter aircraft occurred.

"We would like to inform you of an accident involving an F/A-18D Hornet at 9.05pm Aug 21 at the Sultan Ahmad Shah Airport in Kuantan.

"We are taking immediate action and will update on the latest development," said RMAF in a statement on Thursday.

Video of an explosion as a jet was taking off has gone viral on social media.

According to Bernama, both the pilot and co-pilot in F/A-18D Hornet plane crash reported safe, said Pahang police chief Comm Datuk Seri Yahaya Othman.
