Aug 25 set for hearing to exhume cadet’s remains

SHAH ALAM: The application by the mother of a military reserve officer trainee, for his body to be exhumed for a second post-mortem, will be heard on Aug 25.

High Court judge Justice Bhupindar Singh Gurcharan Singh Preet set the date to allow the respondents – Inspector-General of Police (IGP) and the Attorney-General’s Chambers (AGC) – time to file the affidavit-in-reply.

Ummu Haiman Bee Daulatgun, 45, filed the notice of motion to exhume the body of her son, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia Reserve Officers Training Unit (Palapes) trainee cadet Syamsul Haris Shamsudin, for a second post-mortem, Bernama reported.

Syamsul Haris, 22, died while training at the Army Combat Training Centre in Ulu Tiram on July 28.

Johor police had said that a post-mortem found no signs of criminal injury, but Ummu Haiman called for an inquiry after finding “mysterious bruises” on her son’s body.
