Zara’s school reassigns top officials and wardens

PETALING JAYA: Several top officials of a religious school in Sabah have been temporarily reassigned until a police investigation into the death of one of its students is completed.

The principal, senior assistant for student affairs and all wardens of SMKA Tun Datu Mustapha will be temporarily placed at the Sabah State Education Department, said the Education Ministry.

The decision follows the police’s announcement that a special task force from Bukit Aman has taken over the investigation into the death of Zara Qairina Mahathir.

“The ministry will give its full cooperation to the authorities to ensure that the investigation is carried out thoroughly, meticulously and comprehensively,” the ministry said in a statement on Aug 13.

“As emphasised earlier, this case is currently the ministry’s top priority.

“The ministry hopes that a transparent and complete investigation will be conducted to ensure justice for the family and all parties involved,” the statement said.
