Terengganu Umno Youth chief apologises over flag gaffe

KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu Umno Youth has apologised for posting on social media an image that depicted the Jalur Gemilang with only 12 stripes instead of the official 14.

In a statement on Facebook, Terengganu Umno Youth chief Tengku Haphiz Tengku Putera admitted the oversight and accepted full responsibility.

“We apologise for the mistake in the number of stripes on the Jalur Gemilang in our earlier post.

“The error was unintentional and happened during the design process,” he said, adding that the post had been replaced with the correct version of the flag.

"We will not defend the designer although he did it for free.”

Tengku Haphiz assured that the division would be more careful in future posts to prevent similar mistakes.

“There are two stripes missing, and I have confirmed the mistake came from the person who designed the poster.

"We take responsibility,” he said.

Umno Youth chief Datuk Dr Muhamad Akmal Salleh said the matter should not end with just an apology and called for the individual responsible to face appropriate action, stressing that accountability must be upheld regardless of party affiliation.
