Sabah polls: Leiking keeping mum on defence of Moyog seat

KOTA KINABALU: Datuk Darell Leiking is keeping his opponents guessing on whether he will be defending the Moyog state seat, which has held since 2018.

"Warisan will be contesting (Moyog) no matter what.

"It is not about the individual. It is about the party now. So, we do not need to talk about it," the Warisan deputy president said when asked about speculation he might not defend his seat, which lies within the Penampang Parliament constituency.

"It's a guessing game. Our opponents will also be guessing… the confirmation will come on nomination day. Warisan will field 73 candidates in all state seats," he said at a meet-the-people function in Penampang with Warisan president Datuk Seri Mohd Shafie Apdal on Saturday (Aug 9).

Leiking, 53, lost the Penampang seat to Pakatan Harapan's Upko president Datuk Ewon Benedick in the 2022 General Election.
