Two arrested on suspicion of breaking into sundry shop at Simpang Renggam pineapple farm


KLUANG: Two local men, including a teenager, were detained for allegedly being involved in a break-in at a sundry shop at a pineapple farm in Simpang Renggam near here.

The two suspects, aged 15 and 23 years old, were arrested following a police report lodged by the sundry shop owner on July 30, at 11pm.

Kluang OCPD Asst Comm Bahrin Mohd Noh said they were apprehended on Thursday (Aug 7) at 2am at Lorong 5, Jalan Ladang Nenas, Simpang Renggam.

“Initial investigations found they have no previous criminal record and they tested negative for drugs," he said in a statement.

ACP Bahrin said the case is being investigated under Section 457 of the Penal Code with the offence of lurking house-trespass or housebreaking with the intention to commit an offence punishable with imprisonment.

If the intended offense is theft, the penalty can be up to 14 years of imprisonment and a fine, or canning.

He said the suspects were remanded separately with the first suspect from Aug 7 to 13, while the second suspect from Aug 7 until 11, 2025.
