Purchase of new aircraft shows Malaysia Airlines' financial success

KOTA KINABALU: The purchase of 30 new aircraft by Malaysia Airlines shows its healthy financial performance and effective management, says Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim.

The Prime Minister stated that the decision to acquire 30 Boeing aircraft also reflects Malaysia's prudent trade diplomacy with the United States.

Anwar said that the nation's economy is recovering thanks to political stability and strategic ties with other countries, including the United States.

In tariff negotiations, he emphasised the importance of considering how these would affect businesses and people in Malaysia.

He noted that many agreements have been made for economic benefits, and when Malaysia Airlines decided to purchase new aircraft, the choices were limited to Boeing from the United States or Airbus from France.

Anwar added that the deal for Boeing was finalised about four or five months ago.
