Lorry plunges into 20m-deep ravine near Gua Musang, driver unhurt

KOTA BARU: A lorry driver faced an anxious moment when his vehicle skidded and plunged into a 20m-deep ravine on Jalan Gua Musang-Kuala Betis, near Gua Musang.

Gua Musang Fire and Rescue Station chief Senior Fire Supt Nor Azizi Che Noh, said that the driver, 32-year-old Wan Mohamad Irwan Wan Noor Ahmad, escaped unscathed in the 2.44pm mishap.

"The victim managed to save himself," he said when contacted on Wednesday (July 30).

He added that preliminary investigations found that the victim was driving the lorry from Gua Musang to Kuala Betis to collect timber before losing control of the vehicle, which then entered the opposite lane and plunged into the ravine.

"The public contacted the fire department after failing to get any response from the victim, who, however, was just in shock," he said. – Bernama
