New Court of Appeal President, Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak sworn in


PUTRAJAYA: Datuk Abu Bakar Jais has taken his oath as the new Court of Appeal President while Datuk Azizah Nawawi took her oath as the Chief Judge of Sabah and Sarawak, the two top posts in the judiciary.

They were sworn-in in a ceremony here on Monday (July 28), where six judges were also elevated to the Court of Appeal.

They are Justices Dr Shahnaz Sulaiman, Datin Paduka Evrol Mariette Peters, Ong Chee Kwan, Datuk Mohd Radzi Abdul Hamid, Leonard David Shim, and Datuk Nadzarin Wok Nordin.

Fourteen judicial commissioners were elevated to the High Court of Malaya, namely: Maslinda @ Linda Mohd Ainal, Datuk Faridz Gohim Abdullah, Dr Choong Yeow Choy, Saiful Azian Mokhtar, Evawani Farisyta Mohammad, S. Indra Nehru, M. Sumathi, Moses Susayan, Kan Weng Hin, Dr Wendy Ooi Su Ghee, Mohd Rosli Yusoff, Dr Hazlina Hussain, Roszianayati Ahmad and Mohamad Haldar Abdul Aziz.

Earlier on Monday, His Majesty Sultan Ibrahim, King of Malaysia, presented the instrument of appointment as Chief Justice to Datuk Wan Ahmad Farid Wan Salleh at Istana Negara here.

A former Court of Appeal judge, Wan Ahmad Farid, was presented with the instrument of appointment as a Federal Court judge.
