Housewife falls to her death from Sandakan mall

KOTA KINABALU: Police are investigating the death of a housewife who is believed to have jumped from the seventh floor of a shopping mall in Sandakan.

Sandakan district police chief Asst Comm George Abd Rakman said the 32-year-old foreign woman was believed to be suffering stress due to domestic problems.

He said that a woman was found face down on the fourth-floor balcony of the mall during the incident at about 12.25pm Monday (July 28). Police were informed immediately by the mall management.

ACP George said that initial examination found that she had suffered serious head and leg injuries from the fall.

"We have detected no criminal elements or foul play," he said, adding that police have classified the case as sudden death.

The body has been sent to the forensic unit of the Duchess of Kent Hospital (HDOK) for post-mortem.

He said the investigation was ongoing and urged the public not to speculate, and if they had any information, to inform police.
